Those lights didn't last.

I bought them in July 2017 and (and another order) put them on the terrace and on the trees near the pool. I also bought some fairy lights in August 2017 to complete my project. Unfortunately I have to say that they didn't even last a year and no longer shine. The plastic yellowed and looked very aged within a few months unlike the string lights I had before and it lasted about 8 years. It took a long time to light the rope, especially in the trees. And now I have to climb trees, cut them down and do it all over again. Is there a fuse that could be the problem? If so, is there anything I can take and try? Thank you Melinda Russel.
