I ordered this to have a closer look at the coins as there are so many collector coins out there. Without that, sometimes you really have to squint and look closely at a coin to see if it's anything special. This lens greatly simplifies the task. While I can't speak to the magnification factor or the visual ability to view jewels, it seems to work very well with coins. The hinge is very heavy for its size, but the metal cover holds it up well. Two lighting settings allow you to see the surface of the coin much more clearly than with traditional lighting. The included travel case is a nice addition to keep the sling safe. All in all, it serves its purpose, is easy to use and relatively cheap. I give it four stars for that and can recommend it unreservedly for the coin test. I left the last star to the experts as it's supposed to be a jewelry loop. and I can't talk about it.
