I would rate this iPad mic stand as a really good product, mainly for home use - I use it for practice and some online tutorials which I sometimes visit. It's nice that it mounts directly to the top of the threaded mic stand with no adapters required, although a tube clamp is included if you want to use it in conjunction with a mounted mic. There are other reviews complaining that it broke when thrown in the trunk/van while still attached to the mic stand. After all, it's only plastic (nylon?) and I didn't expect it to be treated so badly. I picked it because a question/answer said it would fit in a stout Otterbox case for an iPad. My iPad is housed in a slim profile, plastic-backed, flip-top case - a standard true thin case available from many sources, and I prefer not to remove it. While the mount holds the iPad in this type of case, it obviously caters to the upper limits of thickness. I seriously doubt the Otterbox case will do that. The result is easy to use, beautifully finished, but not indestructible. If you're using it on the go, it might be best to unplug it from your mic stand before transporting it to avoid breaking it.
