Review on πŸ’‘ Hella Optilux XY Series HB4 9006 Xenon Yellow Halogen Bulbs, 12V, 55W, 2 Pack by Reginald Sealy

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I got a great deal on these beautiful yellow bulbs

They were surprisingly available for $5 so I pulled the trigger in search of these 9006 for my 2011 Subaru Forester. Received it in the mail and found the clear plastic cover was cracked (not described in the sale) but the product was not damaged or compromised. That was the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. Shipping was actually an extra $0.38 ($5.38), but I checked again a few days later and the original price was back, so it was a good deal to me. These lights are similar to their H3 counter. the part I use in my Mercedes vehicles. I wanted the same effect on my Subaru, which doesn't have really useful fog lights on my 2011 Forester, but I can at least see them with a YELLOW beam of light in the foreground. I haven't driven the Forester in totally dark places yet, but if they are the same as the H3's I use in my Mercedes then I'm sure I'll be happy with the performance. H3s of the same make and color on my Mercedes 190E have lasted a couple of years, hopefully these 9006s will last just as long if not more. Update 12-2015: One of the 9006 yellow bulbs has stopped working. 28,000 miles on my Forester with the first set of amber 9006 Optilux bulbs, 45,000 miles when one failed after about 1.5 years. Not bad at $5 for this kit so I bought another one for $20. I put them on and saw some differences between the old yellow and new yellow lamps, both are the same Optilux 9006. The caps are silver on the old ones and yellow on the new ones. Not sure if it matters. Attached images: I use Sylvania XtraVision in low beam (H11) and these yellow Optilux 9006 in fog.
