They’re smooth while laying on them but when I first rubbed them with my hand I expected them to be rough but with your full body it’s not (I sleep unclothed in case it’s pertinent). I will say that water doesn’t seem to do it, but most liquids leave a stain once dry but it really just looks wet still (I have the purple. Not sure about other colors). And it’s probably my pocket depth but one corner does keep popping off during the night. I also noticed about two days ago that the opposite corner from the one that pops off was over pulled and it so far hasn’t since then but I’m not certain if that fixed it or if it just made it where it takes longer before popping
