Great, could be better

This is a really great coffee maker, but. it has the potential to get even better. We went from the Ninja coffee bar (because it was leaking, stuck in cleaning mode, etc. Biggest Ninja issues ever) to this model. The UI isn't as friendly as Ninja's, but it's serviceable. They definitely could have made setting the time and timer a lot easier, but we figured it out. It's a 3 step process to choose the mix you want, so it's just annoying lol. The options are light (watery), golden (decent), and bold (strong). Trying to figure out how much coffee to actually use per blend or per pot size takes some effort. Like the ninja, don't just follow what's written on the included shovel! You'll be up for a week! There's a lot of trial and error involved. We typically use the Gold variant, which is 3.5 scoops for a full pot. It has the same options as Ninja in terms of cup size, pot size, mug size, etc. The cold brew option is good too. One of the biggest sellers of this hot water option. If you're a tea or cocoa lover, that's great! The hot water has a separate spout it comes out of so leftover coffee doesn't taste like cheap pots. My son who loves both tea and cocoa loves it. (So he's 10.) No propellant like Ninja, which is a shame but not enough for me, but maybe for some. My biggest complaint, and one thing I really miss about Ninja, is the lack of a keep-warm function. This was my favorite feature in Ninja and I used it a lot. I work from home so that was key. Being able to press a button and keep the coffee warm for another 2 hours and a smart heater that doesn't even burn the smallest amount of coffee in the pot was like singing angels. Brown has a 1 hour "freshness countdown" when it's hot, and then another hour when it's relatively warm/hot. A lot of reviews say it's not hot enough, and they're right. Even a freshly brewed pot doesn't feel really hot. After those 2 hours it turns itself off and there is no other way to keep it warm than on a lower level. If you try to turn it back on, it won't stay on unless you leave to cook another pot. If I read further and saw that it didn't have that feature, I honestly wouldn't buy it. But this is what will work for me and my lifestyle. I'm sure most people drink coffee before they go to work or grab a cup when they leave the house. When you have guests, not being able to warm up the coffee sucks. Overall not a bad coffee maker but for the price you pay could do a lot better.
