Review on Impressive IOGEAR Compact USB-C Docking Station with PD Pass-Thru - GUD3C03: Ultimate Connectivity Hub by Jordan Rini

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Not all ports/connectors work.

I purchased this product in April (now August) and right away I couldn't get my USB mouse to work properly from any of the ports on the docking station. It turns off every 30-120 seconds (roughly) and stays off for various times (from seconds to minutes). But since I bought the device primarily for a network connection and multiple displays, I decided to just plug the mouse directly into the laptop and not bother with it. I then tried plugging an external USB2 hard drive into the docking station and that too would occasionally shut down, although not as often as a mouse. This caused problems with significant read/write operations on the disk, as it would often shut down in the middle. Again, I plugged the drive directly into my laptop and had no problems. Sometimes one of my screens would go black or none of them would appear when I plugged in my laptop, but a simple power cycle of the docking station might fix that. How the network port stopped working a few days ago. I've tried known good cables and multiple ports on my switch, but the link light never comes on and the computer doesn't even recognize the network adapter when connected to the dock. I didn't have time to mess with it at the time, so today I uninstalled all the drivers I could find for the dock, uninstalled the software, freshly downloaded everything, and reinstalled everything. Without change. I plugged in the USB to Ethernet adapter and my link light comes on, but my computer doesn't even recognize the device when it's plugged into the docking station. When I searched the knowledge base on the manufacturer's website, I found almost nothing to answer my question, and tech support is only open Mon 9-5. The only way I can go live with tech support is if I take a leave of absence from work, which is ridiculous. nothing special). If anything changes, I will update this review accordingly.
