WAY too long

My son loved these swim trunks so of course he ripped off the tag as soon as he put them on. However, they go about 3 inches below his knees! He is a fairly skinny 8 year old but of average height. We bought a size 7/8 and he definitely won't be able to wear it for at least another year.
