If your computer only has HDMI video output and your monitor only has DisplayPort input, this is what you need. I'm not thrilled that it occupies a USB port, but I still use an external multiport USB hub so it wasn't a problem. The video quality is much better than using a long VGA cable which always gave me trailing "ghosting". The video quality with this adapter and the long DisplayPort cable is almost perfect. Update 08/09/2020: Downgrading my rating to 2 stars due to premature failure. I've ordered some replacement parts in case the problem persists. Depending on the response I get from the seller, I may revise the review again. But no electronic thing should fail like that in 2 months. used to turn on. Also, many thanks to the seller for promptly responding to my query with a free replacement quote. Very grateful!
