It's everything I hoped it would be

A little background: I must have been on the floor a lot as a kid. When I was told in middle school to pick my own mattress, thinking the softer the better, I bought a mattress topper and immediately regretted it. At some point I found out that I like very hard mattresses. Now that I'm older and fuller, soft mattresses are killing my back. When I lived in Japan, I loved sleeping on a futon. My daughter didn't have a bed for about 2 years, she used a futon instead. While reading the book, I found her futon much more comfortable than my hybrid mattress. I recently moved back to the US from overseas and wanted somewhere to sleep from day one. Then I thought this would be my chance to finally have my very own Japanese futon. I received it, tatami (also Fuli) and a suitcase. Fuli products came with a cute little clamshell tap on the box and were surprisingly small in the box. do we have wednesday Pile carpet and I would say tatami is optional. With my weight I sleep on my side, I feel the ground but it doesn't hurt me. It's firm on my back or stomach (I sleep in combination) but I don't feel the bottom. My wife, who was also ill, complained of neck pain, but with a better pillow everything was fine. That means since you don't sink (you don't have the thickness to sink very deep), pillow support for your neck is much more important, especially if you sleep on your side. some moisture underneath, so you definitely need to take care of mold prevention. We thought about getting a bed frame to put them on but were happy right on the floor so we dropped the idea, but I don't think most slatted frames for that don't even work with tatami mats. I was so happy we bought another set for my second daughter and we will be buying more if we need to host in the future. tl; dr - Knowing what you're getting yourself into in Japanese futons will help you.
