You could see right away that you had good negative air pressure. My fan is in the basement and I can hear it when I walk into the engineering room and know my unit is on and running. In any case, I decided to use one of these so that I can control the work of the fan. Some reviews of the fan unit say that several years of operation of the fan showed lower efficiency in its performance. If the fan is bad, it indicates that there is less negative air pressure in my closed system. It's easy to install and nothing special to break or fail.
