The first thing I did was replace the over-greased slow speed bearings (a full set can be as low as $15) that come out of the bearing, and it made a big difference. They're pretty uncomfortable from the start, but if you give them some time to break I'm sure it'll be ok (definitely not recommended for wide feet). The nose pads are real rubber and the wheels are pretty nice. Arrived with very light scuffs and scratches (pictured) although I can already tell they will scratch easily with this material so you might want to consider buying shoe covers. All in all, with those terrible bearings swapped out, these are great skates for the price. I still stand by my claim that they would be good for a beginner, but for now I will say that they are best for lighter use as they become strong from using around 5 days a week, mostly outdoors were claimed.
