Review on πŸ“· Fotodiox Premium 43" Studio Umbrella: Shoot Through Translucent Neutral White & Enhance Your Studio Photography by Ashley Stewart

Inexpensive, basic option when a softbox isn't available

Update: I used it for video recording (see attached screen caption) and the lighting was amazing. We shot this in a dimly lit basement and those umbrella shots turned the OMNI into a nice soft light. These little things breathed new life into a set of old Lowel OMNI lightbulbs I use for filming. Great lighting for video and photography. Although they don't control the light like a softbox, they do give the nice soft light I'm looking for. The large size and round shape give the lamp extra softness. Everything seems fine with the design - a little fragile, but I'm one of those geeks who overdo it with care and storage, so I very rarely break devices. I tend to keep items that others see as "cheap" or "fragile" for a very long time. Considering my other alternative was to buy a pair of speed rings (about $35 each) as well as soft boxes (about $35). $25 each), getting this effect for only $25 for both umbrellas was a blessing in my pocket. They are also very quick to set up and take down compared to setting up a softbox, rings, poles etc. I'm sure there are many artistic and academic reasons why I don't use a PC in the filmmaking/photography world, but I am very happy with my results. . They have improved the quality of my products at a very low cost.
