Exactly what you expect is normal.

This is a translucent white photo screen. Able to. Good quality but won't knock your socks off. It's not as good as Westcott. The cheap plastic bag it comes in is not worth keeping. The umbrella is affordable as it comes without a case, is not very big and has a standard shape and size. It's not a hit. It is exactly what it is - affordable, high quality, traditional umbrella photography that you will be satisfied with.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • ill thought out

You can't complain about the price. Good quality

Just got this in the mail a few minutes ago and I think it's solidly built. The last me was standing stupidly out in the wind and didn't secure the stand and yes the umbrella acted like a kit. It won't happen this time. But in the 2 minutes I've played with it, it seems solid. The main trunk is flexible but not too bad. It didn't come with a case but was packaged in a plastic bag so you can use it when not in use to protect it. As long as you open and close carefully, you shouldn't have anyโ€ฆ

Bought two, got two different ones

The downside is I got one high quality and the other one medium quality. Honestly I would give one 5 stars and the other 3 stars. A higher quality shaft has a stronger shaft in the middle so it doesn't get too compressed when tightening in the stand and also has stronger loops on the umbrella part itself. It's perfect for what I want from an umbrella and I can do not complain. Low quality - average. Hollow shaft and flimsy hinges, but honestly it gets the job done. When the wind catches one ofโ€ฆ

Nifty shoot-thru in Camera & Photo

This was my first commercial modifier and I love it. I can say it doesn't last very long, but it's a lot easier to use than my homemade approaches in the past and I'm delighted with the effect - I took a couple of portraits for a local artist and after just a couple of shots that refines the right level of light, we got the result that we both liked in terms of the quality of the highlights and shadows. The only slight caveat I have if you're new to umbrellas is that you might, just might, want

Inexpensive, basic option when a softbox isn't available

Update: I used it for video recording (see attached screen caption) and the lighting was amazing. We shot this in a dimly lit basement and those umbrella shots turned the OMNI into a nice soft light. These little things breathed new life into a set of old Lowel OMNI lightbulbs I use for filming. Great lighting for video and photography. Although they don't control the light like a softbox, they do give the nice soft light I'm looking for. The large size and round shape give the lamp extraโ€ฆ

They get the job done for a good price

I've bought several of these for various photography projects. They do exactly what they were designed to do at a reasonable price. It seems ridiculous the price other companies charge for a large white umbrella. So when I ordered them my only concern was the build quality as I'm pretty rough on my gear. They are well done. The shaft is quite thick. I couldn't bend them with reasonable force, but I didn't want to push too hard either. I couldn't measure the wall thickness of the shaft as it has

  • Free for educational purposes
