Review on HJC Helmets CL-17 Chin Curtain: Enhanced Comfort and Protection for Riders by Bob Candfield

Revainrating 4 out of 5

More than expected. Not super safe.

PRO: - Very well built. Made of high quality plastic, soft but durable. It protects my helmet very well from wind and noise. This is great if you're using a Bluetooth connection. system all the time like me. It really makes a difference how much noise other drivers hear. Installation was a little easy but it doesn't seem to fit perfectly as it bends very easily. However, there is nothing to worry about. CONS: - Thicker than I think it should be. It's easy to notice after installation. It often gets lost when I put on or take off my helmet. The three latches that hold it in place are more than strong enough to keep it in place while riding, but not when my face is rubbing against it (again, when I put on/take off my helmet). Simply putting them back in is enough, but that can be annoying at times and I wish there was a way to fix that. ON THE FENCE: The velcro on the ends is barely strong enough to hold the ends in place while riding. Tighten the chin strap to ensure your helmet fits snugly on your head and does not move at all on your head (you must do this whether you are using it or not!) otherwise the chin guard will move during use ride triggers. However, the above fact can be seen as a downside or a great feature as the fact that the velcro is weak also means that it will not damage the liner of your helmet where it is attached.

Pros
  • practical item
Cons
  • Good but not great
