My little mister is currently wearing a 3T and these XS or 3-4 shorts are a bit big for him but not big enough for him to fall down. I have used them for pajamas on warm nights and they are perfect for that. They are 100% cotton and the tags are on the side rather than the back so it can be difficult to find the back when trying to put them on. I lifted them up to see which side the fit is higher on, but it actually looks like they can be worn anyway. I usually just make sure the tags are to the left of it and assume it's correct. I have washed and tumble dried them to shrink them and there was no visible shrinkage. The cotton fabric held up well with no pilling or fading. At the time of writing this review, the retail price for a set of two shorts, one gray and one black, is around $14, which is quite acceptable for this quality.
