Works well - see detailed review below

**Long detailed review warning below** So I'm a bit of a bright white fanatic and use many different methods to get/keep my white bright. It are several things that can contribute to a dirty white. There may be actual stains (from sweat, dyes, food, etc.), damage (from bleach), or general soiling (probably from hard water and a combination of accumulated dirt/damage). To restore my white / keep it bright and white I use several methods. Bleach, oxygen bleach (aka oxyclin, or color-safe bleach), blue stain, or baking soda, and vinegar. Bleach is good for bleaching, but it can damage fabric and leave laundry white but not shiny. Oxygen bleach does a good job of removing stains (by soaking) and won't damage the fabric, but doesn't help much with dullness and dullness. Bluing is only really good for lightening whites, it doesn't remove stains or dullness. For bleaches that cause yellowing, bluing can help. Baking soda and vinegar (baking soda in wash/vinegar in rinse) is a good all-round solution. It's not an oxygen bleach stain remover, and it doesn't know, it knows, but its strength is that it does all the jobs required for bright white well: stain removal, bleaching, and lightening is my usual method. for white linen. Plus it's safe (for you and your clothes) and cheap. To begin my actual White Brite review, I'll start by saying the directions recommend 1/2 cup White Brite powder and a 5 minute soak time, and I suggest that for "tougher" situations you adjust the dosage and/ or increase soak time I washed a large (in my top load) load of laundry with hot water, used about 5/8 cup powder and soaked for about 15 minutes and how they looked after washing and drying. My laundry consisted of a variety of 100% cotton sheets, towels, flannels, t-shirts and boxers. These items were in a variety of states and ages. The results were a bit mixed, but overall quite positive On various spot stains, White Brite was generally not very effective - it lightened the stains noticeably, but they stayed. general dullness), I'd say White-Brite did the job a little better than Bleach, and it did pretty well on all subjects. In terms of lightening, about 70% of the items came out brilliantly white and looked much lighter than bluing or vinegar. the other 30% of subjects were either not noticeably brighter or were brighter but not as bright as the other 70%. Since the items in the 30% category were a variety of items (i.e. not just specific items that didn't get brighter), I'm guessing that the lack of improvement wasn't due to White Brite, but maybe that How was an old article. or what pre-treatment it was. Now that I've talked about efficiency, I would like to address a few other points. First, while they say White Brite is safe on all fabrics (which is a big selling point since bleach is not), I have no idea if that's true. In terms of safety, as others have mentioned, the dust this product generates is harmful, thick and stays! In addition, the bottle specifically warns that White Brite is a skin irritant and that fumes should be avoided. I don't know if this warning is for liability reasons or because White Brite is actually harmful. I know that watering, of course, is not very pleasant. In addition, the smell of White Brite remains even after additional rinsing and drying. While the smell isn't very strong or unpleasant, it's not weak or sweet either. Also, the fact that the odor is still present is an indication that there is still a significant amount of white Britt left on the clothing. I don't have sensitive skin so I don't notice any effects from White Brite, but if White Brite doesn't wash off well (as I suspect), some people may have a reaction to using White Brite toiletries. I give this product 4 stars for its effectiveness but I caution people to beware of the smell and possible residue.
