Severely defective product

I wanted to like this, but after trying for a long time I just can't understand why anyone should buy this. Many note that this can allow water to get into your car. This is because each inflatable tube has fabric fins on both ends. These ribs are designed to prevent the tie down straps from scratching the roof of your car. But they also serve to drain water directly into the cabin. And it's not just a few drops. This is a significant amount of water. I "fixed" this by simply pinching the ribs of fabric so they no longer wrap around the door frame. Or you could just cut them off. The pontoons themselves pose some problems precisely because they are inflatable. To be honest, I don't think too many people understand or consider how much air expands and contracts in hot or cold conditions. That means if you pumped up the tubes at 60 degrees Fahrenheit and then the weather warmed up to 85 and then the car was parked in the sun, the pressure in those tubes went up. Because of this, some reviewers complain that the inflation wands keep popping out of the tubes. The reverse is also a problem. I inflated the tubes when it was very hot and then a cold front passed. Coming back from the beach from the canoe on the roof of my car, I noticed that it was swinging heavily. This happened because the lower temperatures reduced the air pressure in the pipes. As you can see I used this with a fairly large boat. I think this product should only be considered if you are carrying something much smaller like a surfboard or skis. But even then, you can get the same effect (much cheaper) with pool noodles and some ties. So I'm not entirely sure why anyone would buy this product.

Pros
  • SMART DESIGN: Soft roof rack for vehicles without roof rails, with roof rails and panoramic roof. The trunk's aerodynamic design reduces vibration and wind noise. Detachable roof rack that can be easily removed when not in use.
Cons
  • A little torn
