Grille instead of factory mirror. I'm a bodybuilder and painter in an elite auto shop, no problems with the mirror. However, if you're thinking of bolting them on and you didn't have a factory heated mirror, you'll need to use the old mirror's factory mirror plug, ground the door locks, and start the mirror heater using the defrost button as is. A timer and mirrors don't draw as much voltage, I have tested them before I connect them. on my Tahoe Sport 99 2 door. I have power mirrors from the factory, but no heated mirrors. I simply used a small, sharp pick to loosen the clamps on both mirrors and swapped the connectors, then took the mirror and pushed the mirror buttons up, down, left and right and unhooked them. Wire or wire moved to a different terminal until the mirror has moved in the direction of the mirror switch being pressed. Then you have two black wires, this is ground and the other wire is the power supply to the heated mirror element. The one with the marks on the wire thinks it's the silver marks on it, that's the one you lead to the defrost button. I removed the rubber cover on the door wire and routed the wire to the mirror with a coat hanger, then carefully routed the wire through the door case and as far as possible to the defrost button, just like the factory one. Same procedure for both sides. I didn't even take my door panel off, just pulled out the window latch block and used the bottom of them. If you use a 10mm wrench and a telescopic magnet to grab and hold the nuts when removing and installing, you will not have to remove the door panels.
