There is no ceiling light in my living room in the apartment, so it is very dark in there. I wanted something to make it cozier, but I usually find Christmas lights very gaudy and didn't want the usual white Christmas string of lights. When I first got them I just hung them on the wall but we have low ceilings so each light strand was about 30cm hanging off the floor. I was afraid my dogs would eat them, so that's not good. I ended up taking each end and pinning them to the ceiling. This looks better than just hanging them on the wall and gives the whole room a cozy feel. My only complaint is that they aren't very bright at all, so they only really help illuminate the room at night. The remote works great but you have to be very close to the outlet for it to dim or flicker. I also really like that the brightness changes because I put it on the lowest level at night and my dogs are now willing to sleep there instead of tossing and turning in my too small bed if I had no light they would be there not sleep. . Overall I think these are a great purchase well worth the $17 I paid for them.
