It's quite short. I really wanted a bigger one but I think it does the job. I needed an external antenna for my Baofeng UV5R portable radio because it has a lot of interference in my car. Probably due to the static from the electronics through his body, but I'll admit my reception was good and clear after plugging it in, or it seems to have confirmed my interference theory. However, it really should have a much stronger magnet. It comes with a double sided adhesive sheet that you can stick to the bottom but I really wish I didn't have to because if I want to take it off now it's going to be a lot harder and I'm leaving the sticky stuff on my roof
