If only the magnet worked better

The range seems great. I couldn't test it because the magnet didn't hold. At first I forgot it was up there, so I accelerated quickly while hopping onto the freeway. When I reached 50 km/h, it had fallen off. I tried again, with much slower acceleration, and at 50 mph it dangled again. It looks cool and it's small so I liked it. But the purpose of the magnetic mount is to securely attach it to your car, which it doesn't, which is why it gets 2 stars from me.

Wouldn't stay on car in crosswinds

It stayed on my roof at 70mph in no wind, but fast (<1 minute) at highway speeds in crosswinds. I'm sending it back because I wanted to use something in my car; but it might be a good choice for those who want a cheap indoor antenna attached to a filing cabinet, baking sheet, or other large metal object to act as a ground. It really improved signal reception when attached to my car. It can also be a good choice for parking/stuck emergencies.

Bingfu Dual Band VHF UHF 136-174MHz 400-470MHz Ham Radio Antenna

Two problems with this mobile antenna - The magnetic mount is not strong. I do not drive. The next problem is that the cable is too short. You need to buy an extension cord. If I hide this cable around the inner bar, it's not enough to get to the front panel. Going to 2 meters is fine, but 400-470MHz is not very good. I think you get what you pay for in the $9 antenna category. Needless to say I am buying another antenna with better performance.

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

Only $10 but not worth it.

I kind of came here expecting a result but I was still disappointed. The antenna came with a cracked plastic base and I attached it to the fridge to see what condition the magnet was in and it turned out to be fine. When I tried to install it on my truck it became clear that I couldn't drive at any speed with this antenna just using a magnet. onto the bed of a truck, but that defeats the purpose of being a magnet. It connected fine to my HT and I was able to connect to a few local repeaters…

Absolute rubbish basically (Read the full review)

Edit 12/8/21: I've spent a lot of time playing with this cheap thing since I wrote my original review. The SWR is still terrible, but it REALLY works. When you set it up. By wrapping an ugly choke around a piece of ferrite as close to the feed point as possible, 5-6 turns, I at least get a very good, clean signal at weather stations and on both bands. The SWR does not decrease. 2 times 2 or 70, but usable. The reception will be very strong for one minute, next time you transmit, you need to…

Pros
  • Cool product
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Guess It's Alright is best in Antennas

It's quite short. I really wanted a bigger one but I think it does the job. I needed an external antenna for my Baofeng UV5R portable radio because it has a lot of interference in my car. Probably due to the static from the electronics through his body, but I'll admit my reception was good and clear after plugging it in, or it seems to have confirmed my interference theory. However, it really should have a much stronger magnet. It comes with a double sided adhesive sheet that you can stick to…

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks

Does what is listed on the audio and video accessories

I installed this antenna in the back center of my tundra and had a strong RF signal to nearby repeaters and anyone within 10 miles from site lines lots of green trees and a few small hills, drove 60 mph with no problems, it's made for UHF and VHF 6 meters, will likely have bad SWR, peel off paint, put a 3 meter sticker on a clean spot, then apply the antenna above. If you press it pretty hard on the pad, just two fingers pull the cord, you can hit the 8-watt Baofeng UV-5R Repeater at a distance

Pros
  • Radio Antennas
Cons
  • Available in white only

Decent Price

I am using this antenna on a Baofeng UV5R set up as a cellphone in my truck. This is an improvement over any portable antenna you can put on it. I was able to use it to successfully talk to a repeater 9 miles away with a lot of terrain in between here and there. I can't even turn on this repeater unless I'm using my Nagoya UT72 antenna. I have a fake 771 antenna which is great, but I can't get a reliable connection to the repeater with it (just a note, I'm not trying to use the 771 out of a…
