Does not sit flush with spark plug on 03 pt Cruiser Touring

This is the second kit I have purchased for my 03 pt Bruiser Non-Turbo 2.4 Touring and I have had no success getting the spark plugs to seat properly, they do not sit flush with the valve cover, but about 2 mm above the indentations. Very annoying as they have much better wire quality than the Denso, but at least the Denso fits correctly. so i think it is denso :/
