Description of Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance 215/60 R16 99W Summer
Efficient Grip Performance. A tire with increased grip and shorter braking distances on wet roads. Wet grip category A*. The Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance summer passenger tire is one of the latest innovations from the North American manufacturer. Unlike other representatives of this tire line, this model is designed exclusively for powerful passenger cars. The speed ratings assigned to it - H, V, W and Y - testify to the high performance of this tire. WearControl technology is perhaps the key feature of this model. Its use in this tire is inspired by the desire to strike the perfect balance between high traction in all conditions with other signature features of the entire family of energy efficient models, namely durability and fuel efficiency. This difficult task was solved by using several rubber compounds. That is, the tread of the Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance tire consists of two layers. The inner tread layer is made of a rubber compound, which is not only characterized by high rigidity, like most competitors, but also by reduced heat generation. As you know, the tire heats up while driving, as a result of which the tread begins to break down intensively, which negatively affects the life of the tire. At the same time, all its main characteristics significantly deteriorate. In addition, the rigid inner layer provides higher resistance to dynamic deformation, and also contributes to a more uniform distribution of external pressure over the contact patch. As a result, the tire began to behave on the road more reliably and predictably. In addition, the likelihood of developing such a negative phenomenon as uneven wear has decreased. In turn, the top layer of the tread is made of a more elastic rubber compound. It is distinguished by the presence in the composition of a high content of silicon-containing components, which are also known as silica. Increased elasticity allows the tread to more tightly fit even the slightest bumps on the road surface, which ensures excellent grip, especially on wet surfaces. At the same time, due to silica, the rubber compound has become even more wear-resistant, which has a positive effect on the service life of the tire. Since the tire is designed for powerful vehicles, it was paramount to ensure a high level of safety when driving at any speed. This is largely why this tire uses an asymmetric directional tread pattern that delivers excellent performance regardless of road surface characteristics. One of the key features of this tread pattern is the 3D blocks. When braking, these tread elements increase the contact patch area. This solution has significantly reduced the braking distance. The otherwise asymmetrical tread pattern contains...
