Bright and colorful but needs a lot of work.

First purchase of a Govee product. For context, I compared this RGBIC strip kit to an advanced Mercury LED strip sold at Walmart for use in my office. Benefits: $30. It is very good. Fantastically bright compared to the advanced Merkury LED strip, easy to set up and control. So far I haven't had any trouble integrating it into my home. Good responsive music mode. - Cons - White/very light colors are really inaccurate. - No weather/water protection. Unlike the advanced Merkury LED strip which has been sealed in clear rubber, this is just a bearish LED strip with no power dissipation. I will block any LED strip that refuses to do this. However, the light diffuses fairly well at around 2-3 inches from the surface so hiding it behind things works well. - Do not cut or solder. Like, like, something like. TECHNICALLY you can still shorten the LED strip by cutting off the copper connectors. HOWEVER, the RGB controller assumes it is working full-length, so some effects look odd or incomplete. Unless of course you soldered them back together. Something Mercury did in their app allowed the user to manually adjust the length of the LED strip, allowing the controller to use smaller groups of LEDs to maintain the same effects. - It is not possible to control groups of LEDs less than 9. Although there is a controller every 3 LEDs, the application allows you to manually color each set of 9 LEDs unless a scene is playing. Many scenes are too fast, flashy and annoying to be fun. You can make your own but if you slow them down in the scene builder they just run in slow motion not that the scene will run slower with a better color change/movement history. Advantages and disadvantages. Gove app. I won't lie, the app gives me mixed feelings. While I feel like it's definitely better than the Mercury, I still feel like it has a long way to go before I approve. me. I want to be able to edit finished scenes in the colors I like. I'd love to be able to slow down scenes from risk of an epileptic seizure to something comfortable without it becoming a choppy slow-mo mess. Less Tiktok-style social media sharing and more searching, sharing and saving Nanoleaf scenes. Honestly. I don't care about your videos if I can't see your scene, ok that's cool and save it to my app.
