Review on 💡 AmazonBasics Daylight Dimmable LED Bulb with Extended Lifespan by Chris Byers

Overall, RevainBasics is good value for money. You get a bright (7W) MR16 that delivers accurate colour, at least in the daylight version. Dimming was good, not great. But there were a few things I wanted to point out: 1) If you have transparent lights, they don't shine through the body/sides of the light. The light only comes out of the end of the closed LED cover. It depends on your light fixture, but in my lights the light fixture is recessed so that only about 1/4 inch of the end of the light fixture is illuminated. This does not affect the properties of the illuminated surface, only how the luminaire looks in the room. 2) LED bulbs get very hot. 7W LEDs still require a heatsink, and these bulbs have minimal one. After leaving them for 20 minutes, you cannot take them off and touch them. I measured the ambient operating temperature with my Fluke and it was around 175 degrees Fahrenheit. This is slightly colder than comparable halogen, which in my case is over 200 degrees Fahrenheit. I would expect a 7W LED bulb to have a larger/heavier heatsink, but maybe that's a trade-off for the price, which we appreciate. I don't think it would be accurate to say that these lamps run cool.
