Review on ๐Ÿ”‹ Value Pack of 12 Amazon Basics D Cell All-Purpose Alkaline Batteries, Easy to Open with 5-Year Shelf Life by Elsa Ferrell

Revainrating 4 out of 5

3rd Order, Sequential Fill

Update June 19, 2021: Ordered for the third time. Tested 3 out of 12 and all showed 1.63V. Expiry date: February 2026. These were consistently good cells. I've noticed that Duracells have gone up in price to just over $20, making them a steal at $12. I compared them to two other new/unused D-cells, Duracell Coppertop (assembled in the US) and Rayovac Fusion, both tested at 1.61V. The Revane cell and the other two were almost accurate (within 2/10 mm) of the same length and diameter. Revain cells expire in October 2022; The expiration dates for Duracell and Rayovac cells are March 2027 and November 2025 respectively and I have had these cells for about a year now. Maybe Revain put more realistic expiration dates on their cells, or maybe they're shipping out old stock, who knows. The packaging of the Revain items was very strong. Two rows of 6 elements each, each row was shrink wrapped, and a cardboard separator between the positive and negative terminals as there were two rows along the box. Thanks to the packaging, they can be used for long-term emergency storage, especially when best-by dates are usually longer than the competition. Unless that data is BS anyway. The voltmeter doesn't lie. I wouldn't trust them to leave them in the unit for long periods of time. I expect they will leak like any other Chinese alkaline battery I've ever used. I want Energizer to make Ultimate Lithium D cells, which are bulletproof AA and AAA non-rechargeable cells that are the gold standard in non-rechargeable cells.

Pros
  • 5 YEAR SHELF LIFE: Improved design provides 5 year leak-free durability; Keep for emergencies or use immediately
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks
