Review on Profile PCI Express Firewire Chipset SD PEX30009 by Ken Arellano

Does the work I bought it for

No problems installing on Dell XPS 8700 with Windows 8.1. Windows recognized the card and loaded the TI drivers included with Windows when I got to where it was installed. I connected a Sony DCR-TRV330 via firewire using the cable that came with the camera. As soon as I switched the camera to VCR mode, Cyberlink Photo Director 10 opened up. I haven't taken any extended shots yet, but the five-minute recording went smoothly, no sign of lag or dropped frames. The video I tried it on was a Hi8 tape remastered from a standard VCR tape. I had to replace the flat brace with a larger one, which only requires the removal and replacement of two bolts. Information for Cyberlink Power Director users. Do not open Power Director for capture. Just plug in your DVR/camera and turn it on. Power Director will start in a few minutes. If you open the Power Director and then try to grab it, it doesn't work - I didn't try downloading the software that came with the card, as many other reviewers said they had trouble doing so. The device does what I wanted it to do, using the built-in Windows drivers. I've described the environment in which it works because most of the questions I've seen about it relate to whether the card will work with a specific PC, operating system, or editing software. Hope this is helpful. Request to other reviewers: Please describe your environment when evaluating devices that may be sensitive to the environment in which they are used.
