The instructions are not the best as written in other reviews. To install on JLU:1. Dismantle the bracket and the table2. Remove the plastic panel on the rear door. I recommend a plastic tool, it pops out instantly3. Attach the mounting plate to the tailgate. Place a small piece of tape on the door where the 4 screw holes line up with the factory mounting positions on the Jeep4. Set the bracket aside and lift the plastic cover you removed from the gate. The top two holes are easily identified with the cylinders in the plastic cover. The bottom two holes can be identified by holding the plastic cover face down at a 90 degree angle next to the tailgate. You will see two small indentations in the plastic that line up with the tape on the tailgate. Remove the tape from the gate and place it on the plastic next to the bottom two cutouts.5. Slowly drill four holes to avoid melting the plastic.6. We added a plastic trim to the tailgate. Set the bracket against the plastic, insert the top two screws and lightly hand tighten. Align the bottom two holes and insert the screws. If you missed a hole a bit, don't worry, you can insert a drill from the outside and enlarge the hole a bit. The mounting plate covers the holes. Tighten all 4 screws7. Assemble the tray and finger tighten.8. Open and close the compartment a few times to see if it fits. If everything is OK, tighten the screws and check again.9. The six tubular plastic inserts were not used at all. You can use these if you want the bracket to be an extra inch or so from the tailgate. I prefer a snug fit so I don't bump into it when the tailgate is open. This is a personal preference.
