These towels are beautiful and look great in the kitchen. Functionally, they're not as absorbent as terry towels or cotton handkerchiefs (I can dry my hands, but wiping water off a plate or countertop requires more force to lift the water), but their absorbency seems to increase slightly every wash.. Out of the box they were quite hard, had a VERY strong perfume smell (not bad but very strong) - it even lingered on the first wash but it went away after the second wash. I first soaked the towels in cold water overnight and let them air dry (as is generally recommended for pestemal towels) and then put them in the washer and dryer. They've now been washed/dried twice - they hold up well, generally keep their shape, the tassels still look good and the softness/absorbency is a little better (and hopefully will improve with each wash). The sizing is not true to size at all - I agree because they are just the right size for a kitchen towel, but if someone is expecting a 45x20 inch towel, it's definitely not my size, even pre-wash. Now they actually measure 36 inches long and 18 inches wide (see my ruler photos). They were slightly larger before washing, but not by much (maybe 19 inches wide but definitely not 45 inches long). Overall I like them, especially for the price, but they're not exactly 5 stars for functionality - if their absorbency increases over time I'd add that 5 stars.
