Absolutely happy with the update

I bought two of these to replace the original set of keys on my 2005 Porsche 911 and am very happy with the change. Both of my keys were cracked, and one of them occasionally broke off and fell out in the parking lot. I was skeptical but the quality of the new devices is excellent and they feel much better in the hand, with a more stylish and attractive matte keychain. It took me about 30-40 minutes to replace the internals with a new block, but I finished the second one quicker. By far the hardest part is removing the transponder in the original key, which others have pointed out is glued in place. My method was to use a utility knife to cut out the narrow sides of the transponder, then score the key's plastic and carefully pry it open. longer sides of the transponder. At first I was very careful and easy when cutting, but quickly realized that I had to put more effort into cutting the surrounding plastic walls (where the transponder is inside). A pair of pliers will also help remove battery contacts. I was happy to find a new Porsche decal with an adhesive base in the car to put on the key. You can either cut off the key that comes with the new device or just graft the original key onto the new fob, which I did and was very easy (just be careful not to lose the spring holding it in place ). I also kept and used the old silicone sleeve around the circuit board because it had a small lip holding the board in place which the new silicone sleeve didn't have. Overall, this is qualitatively remarkable value for less than $20 and less than an hour of your time per key.
