Review on πŸŽ„ 6.5ft Pre-Lit Fraser Fir Pencil Christmas Tree by Puleo International - 250 Clear Lights, Green by Jill Flores

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Looks great, but there are questions to consider before buying.

Whilst this is a very nice looking full fledged tree it does have a number of problems associated with using an incandescent bulb which are detailed in the cons below. From afar, this tree looks pretty realistic. This is not the case up close. But it's curvy and full and will work well in most situations. Pros: 1. The branches are really lush. Cannot be installed over tree.2. The metal stand isn't outstanding, but it's adequate and a nice addition.3. The lights give a very nice color and the brightness can be adjusted with a variac or other voltage regulator. Reducing the voltage gives a more yellow color, which I find even more pleasing. It also significantly increases lamp life and is highly recommended (see cons below). If one bulb burns out, the other bulbs not only stay on, but get brighter (but see the cons below). Cons: 1. Incandescent bulbs, not LEDs. If one burns out, the resistance of the blown bulb decreases and the other bulbs now receive a higher voltage. This will not only make the remaining lights brighter, but also burn out much sooner.2. Lamps only last 1700 hours on average, which typically equates to 2-3 years of use. After that you can discard the tree as you have 350 lightbulbs to replace. I have not been able to find these lamps for sale but if anyone knows where to purchase them please add a comment to this review. You can buy lighting kits and pull up the tree. (The solution is to reduce the voltage as above.) 3. As the light shifts, all the other lights in that chain go out from 50. This is a major disadvantage as I had two bulbs that were not installed correctly and it took some time to find the bad bulbs and put them back in their sockets properly.

Pros
  • Useful not only for its intended purpose
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
