Kicking Horse coffee has been my favorite for three years. This time I mistakenly ordered beans instead of ground coffee. Doesn't matter. I grind my coffee all the time, so I was interested in trying it. I've ground the beans in all sorts of ways - from the finest powder to granules - but I'm blown away by the lack of flavor. I tried doubling and then tripling the recommended amount. It was better but still not good. Definitely not the kicking horse I know and love. There is very little flavor no matter how I change the ratio. I know I wasn't impressed with the last batch of ground coffee I ordered either, so I'm wondering if the product has changed in the last few months. I asked my friend to try it too. He ground fresh beans and made a new pot with the same lackluster results. He usually LOVES this coffee, and yet he went to the store to buy another brand so we could make another cup for breakfast. whoops I often call Grizzly Claw Kicking Horse "the best coffee in the world". Difficult to combine? May be. But that was always in the past. I'm writing off the last ground "fur coffee" I ordered as an accidental bad batch. But I can honestly say I will never buy whole beans from any vendor again. I really hope this isn't the end of the Kicking Horse fragrance. I used to look forward to getting it in the mail and enjoying every cup. The bag has rarely lasted more than a week or so. However, there is still half of the bag that no one uses. Sad but true.
