Review on 🐱 Wysong Epigen 90 Starch-Free Dry Formula - Optimized Dog and Cat Food (WDCFE905) by Anton Nosrac

Revised review, recipe needs revision

Below was my original review many months ago. Since then, I've made a different observation about this food. While the ingredients are top-notch and the lack of fillers and starches is great, the amount of pre- and probiotics is over the top. To the point that it causes indigestion no matter how much/little you feed. Shame as I was hoping it would help my dog. But even my cats had the same reaction to the food. They liked the taste, but it went right through them. Wysong needs to change the amount of pre- and probiotics, it's too much. Hope you understand the hint. At the moment I'm trying Dr. Elsey's Clean Protein dry cat food, ordered through Chewy. Same concept as Epigen90, just fewer pro and pre biops. More expensive, but I hope that there are no more digestive problems. Gave 2 stars for quality of ingredients, hope they come back to the drawing board and fix it. Original Review: There are many different opinions, reviews about this dog food. I decided to try and see for myself. So far I love it and so does my dog. What attracted me is that it contains no starch/carbs and no added fillers. In 2015 I lost my dog to lymphoma and learned that carbs/starches feed cancer cells. "Grain Free" contains NO carbohydrates/starches! For my current dog I have tried other high end dry food but ended up sticking his nose in it. Not this food. He loves to! Now, some reviews say their dogs have had digestive issues because of this food. The key with this food is to introduce it VERY gradually, I'm talking about a tablespoon at a time and mix it into his regular food for a month. If you give too much too soon, you will see indigestion. The combination of enzymes, probiotics, and prebiotics in this food will cause a backlash from gut bacteria if you rush (sigh, I made that mistake because he wanted more). So take your time. It's expensive, but it doesn't contain any fillers/extras they don't need and they eat less of it than most other dog foods. I use this food as a supplement to my dog's meat diet. The only downside is that you have to order through the internet, no one carries it in a pet store.
