A few months later, a loud crackle appeared in the monitor's speakers.

I love the brightness and color of the monitor and was very happy with it until the speakers started making inexplicable crackling noises which I never actually use as I have an excellent desktop computer. Occurs intermittently and unpredictably and I cannot resolve it with actions such as replacing the cable. BenQ's warranty line says it "protects" its employees by (never) answering calls, only emails! There is still no reply to my letter. My monitor is about 9 months old. My humble advice is don't buy this monitor, and given BenQ's no-phone-call policy, reconsider any BenQ purchase until they decide to support their customers again.
