I purchased this item to add extra water flow to my overflow. I wanted to add a bigger pump to my sump to pump more water. The U-tube does not have a vent tube to remove incoming air and fill the system. Therefore, you need to use a rubber hose to do this. I had another U-tube with a notch at the top and a cup sticking out of it, making it easy to fill and clean. own.
