Great idea, wish it worked better

Before I bought this doorbell, my beagle had a terrible habit of scratching the front door to get our attention. He practically yanked the door open, so I started looking for an alternative. I got my favorite doorbell a few weeks ago and was thrilled at the thought of not having to constantly fix the door. The product itself looks exactly like the picture, but I noticed problems with it straight away. At first I tried ringing the bell while standing on the floor. He didn't call. I thought it was broken but then I noticed that it rings when not on the floor. So I kept testing it to figure out what angle it should ring from. Then I realized that if the handset wasn't placed in the right spot (relative to the doorbell), it wouldn't ring either. I decided to nail it to the door and found that my dog couldn't push the button when his paw was facing the door. So I flipped the paw over (toes on the ground) and it didn't ring. So I angled it with 2 other nails. It seemed to work for a while, but inconsistently. At this point I really didn't want to return it as my dog has been using it diligently (and the door hasn't ripped again) so I tried to double check the corners. I thought hanging the battery outside of the bay would work - it seems ridiculous, but it worked (finally). Now it's hanging on my garden gate, upside down at an angle, held in place by 4 nails, with the battery (and wire) sticking out. uh ok At least I smile every time I hear the doorbell.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
