I really hoped the bad reviews were outdated but please heed them! You should be able to touch the sensor to turn the light on and off and touch and hold for the dimmer function. I've had it for less than a month and I can't get it to work properly. It was sporadic at first and I was able to get it working properly after a few touches, but now it's broken. Tap sometimes does nothing, sometimes it tries to dim. Try adjusting the brightness and nothing happens. Unplug it and plug it back in, and it reappears in low light. Hold to try to force it off, give up and leave it disabled. I thought the sensor issues mentioned by others might be due to oily fingers or a dirty sensor, but everything is clean and dry and not working properly. I tried calling their # about the guarantee and not sure if the # on the box is even correct as the operator had a shared voicemail. It's a shame because I love the 3 lighting options and the brightness and dimming options they just need to get rid of the touch sensor and this could be a great product. Don't waste money!
