There are 3 cables in the box, not 2. I have tested the device via USB and S/PDIF and it works fine. The knobs are very good and the tone controls match my headphones. I paid more for this DAC than my headphones and I'm glad I did. There is no difference in sound. If your original sound, high and low sounds have the same volume, and the volume of the sound does not change with the tempo, then this device will not help. However, if your old sound card drives your headphones the way a clock radio drives $400 speakers, then you really need this thing. LInux doesn't need a driver, although it was annoying to run in pulseaudio mode at 192K. Great purchase and I guarantee your demanding music will sound better! If only everything on Amazon worked as well as this high quality DAC!
