I hate shoes; I hate wearing, buying, trying on and changing them. This is the best I can get to walk barefoot without exposing my toes or wearing sandals. I'm an acrobat so they are perfect for the studio, traveling and rehearsals. Unlike other flats I've bought, they wrap around your foot and let your entire crotch touch the ground. Size 40 fits perfectly, covers the entire sock and the cotton stretches if you have a wider foot at the top. Just note that they have ZERO traction - the outsole is cotton so you'll slide on slippery surfaces. I also live in the desert where everything is hot and poisonous, they are not intended for outdoor activities where you might come across cacti or other nasty/hot stuff. You can also wear them as clogs or slippers if needed as they don't have a hard heel that can "break".
