Review on πŸ”₯ Long-Lasting Ecoey Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector – Silent 10 Year Battery Operated Alarm, Dual Sensor, 2 Pack by Mark Adlesh

Revainrating 2 out of 5

This will fail the fire inspection.

We are landlords and we have to do a fire inspection with the city every time there is a tenant move. I thought I read the smoke/carbon monoxide alarm installation rules very carefully. I made sure it had a 10 year battery, was a decent three feet from the bedroom door and was carbon monoxide rated so we didn't have to buy a second one. This alarm looked perfect for this purpose so we bought it. Big mistake. The fire inspector came and said it was not UL certified. Luckily he was a good guy and didn't let us down right away... He made me run to the Home Depot at the last minute and buy a Kidde alarm clock; he returned two hours later. If he hadn't been so accommodating, we could have gotten a non-compliance ticket and would have had to book it to another day for an additional rebooking fee (which would mean another day of three hours waiting for him, plus me taking half an hour to get to the apartment). So lesson learned! I was trying to save a few bucks on this online purchase, but if it doesn't pass city inspection, it's useless to us. I still gave two stars because everything else was good, but as homeowners we have to play by the rules. I sent it back the same day.

Pros
  • TEST AND DISCONNECT: Test and disable the carbon monoxide combo smoke alarm by pressing the test/silence button, silence time is 10 minutes. Fire alarm sound exceeds 85dB at 3 meters and sounds throughout the house
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product
