The sound is miles better than the popular Vidpro XM-55 or SGC-598, so if you're considering these, do yourself a favor and get them. It's also much easier than using a TASCAM DR-60DmkII or later syncing to my TASCAM DR-40. Just plug it in and enjoy great sound. It is powered by the camera - make sure the microphone is on or the battery will die. This is a big plus. It's small, doesn't get in the way, has a great windscreen (a good fluffy one is usually worth almost the entire mic). Behind the camera. I am allergic now and my stale breath is unbelievable. I mainly use it with my Canon 70D, but it also attaches to my DJI OSMO via Osmo - Quick Release 360° Mic Mount with great results. I'll still need a Tascam with Lavalier or Rode NTG2 mics for some demanding tasks, but I suspect the Rode VideoMico will be used on its own quite a bit too.
