Solid Bottles: Home Brewing & Winemaking

My bottles arrived a day early. The packaging is good, the bottles are not broken. The box it came in was nice and thick. All caps were there. I "sanitized" them in the dishwasher and then rinsed the bottles with regular tap water and air dried them upside down. I will not fill the bottles completely, just below the neck. Maybe make an extra 12oz bottle? Use them to prepare Caribbean drinks. I would buy them again. Note: If you are carbonated the liquid in this bottle by any type of fermentation, you should burst the bottle at least 4-5 times a day. Hold the top, release the front latch, and then slightly lift the top with a short pull. If you see blisters rising up your throat, then it's about to leak. Close the latch until the bubbles go away, then vomit them up. If the bubbles stop rising through the throat after opening, this is equivalent to 1 burp. Some people do this 4 times (session) a day for two days while fermenting. Failure to regurgitate a bottle that has been fermented with yeast or a natural fermentation mix can result in an explosion. Open bottles slowly to relieve pressure, even near sinks. I do this about 4-5 times in 24 hours, every 5-6 hours or so, and then pop it in the fridge. If it's been 10-12 hours since you popped the bottle open during the fermentation process, expect plenty of airflow. The key is to hold the neck of the bottle and squint the neck for bubbles. That's why I don't fill the bottle all the way up. Lots down the neck. There are many videos and literature about this process. Do your homework before you make a mess!
