Review on Enhance Your Shower Experience with Speakman Polished Chrome VS-1240 Rio Multi-Function Handheld Shower Head, 2.5 GPM by Denis Panga

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The VS-1240 offers excellent shower performance with 5 settings and .

I only use Speakman showerheads. This rating is for the Speakman Rio Model VS-1240 shower head, which has a minimum flow rate of 2 GPM and a maximum flow rate of 2.5 GPM (at 45psi). Higher flow rates may be possible if you remove the regulator in the handle. You do this by grabbing one of the 4 inner white plastic tabs and then pulling at an angle to pull it out (you may have to pull quite hard). Some have noticed little or no change in flow with the regulator open; This means that the flow rate from the faucet hose must be less than 2.5 gpm. That said, removing the regulator will only increase the flow rate if your faucet can deliver a flow rate greater than 2.5 GPM. If you're a fan of everything, you might want to measure the flow rate of your faucet before installing a new shower head. Obviously, the shower head itself cannot increase the flow rate higher than that of a faucet. I recently moved in and the shower head in the main bathroom was a delta. I replaced it with the VS-1240 shower head and immediately noticed a huge improvement in shower quality. The Delta shower head had 3 positions but they were all terribly inadequate to provide a quality shower. The shower took a long time as the soap had to be rinsed off and I didn't really feel clean when I was done. In contrast, the VS-1240 delivers excellent showering in any of the 5 settings, and showering is much quicker (but now I don't want to get out of the shower). The shower mode is selected by turning the tab on the shower head. Based on a clock with a tab for the hour hand, these positions are roughly at 3, 5, 6, 7, and 9 o'clock when looking at the shower head. The 3 o'clock position almost shuts off the flow, which can be used to save water while you lather or shave. The 5 o'clock position is the widest jet and is best for washing my hair. The 6 o'clock position gives a linear spray with 5 sets of holes. The 7 o'clock position gives the overall beam in the classic 5 hole Speakman pattern. Finally, the 9 o'clock position uses the center holes to provide the strongest jet, which I think works best for washing the armpits. I am once again very happy with the Speakman showerhead and highly recommend the VS-1240.
