Do not wait! for paint sprayers

Best spray painting tool for a beginner like me. I bought a 6 gallon air pressure tank for it for $99. It just takes a little practice and boom. I keep the nozzle half way or a little lower. The thicker the paint, the higher the pressure. For example, something as thin as a stain would need 30psi, but for something as thick as a latex oil primer I increased the pressure to 90psi even after adding Penetrol. I have used Floetrol for my water based latex satin gloss with great success - I used 2-4 oz per 12 oz of paint. I later found out that the white paint had to be thinned with water as Floetrol can yellow the paint a bit over the years, but now it looks brilliant white. Even when I diluted with water my results weren't that great, but it was probably my combination of distance and pressure. You really have to watch the distance. If you get good results with a 6 inch spacing, be sure to keep that spacing or some areas will drip and clump and others will be sparse. Floetrol really helps with this and makes your work very gentle. or wherever you can hang the animal. I often even had to hang it in the middle of the pieces, and if you just lay it down it can clog your hole - for that I had a tiny wire ready to clean up if needed. Topcoats I've used water based Ultimate Poly without thinning at all and I only needed 70-80psi. Really good for that - no brush marks and perfect opacity. I didn't even clean the glass or beast for three nights and it still sprayed great every morning and cleans up easily with the last coat on all parts Cleaning was easy for me but time consuming because I maintain mineral spirits in a large can - not the ones that are white and thick - they did a terrible job For the water base I used water and a little water washes well. I was careful with the thin cork rim. I removed the screws every time I took it apart completely to clean it. I used pipe cleaners for the metal straw part. and I kept all the details in a glass bowl on the windowsill to dry so as not to lose the tiny details. I got so into it after making a dresser and bookcase that I built a tent in my garage with these giant rolls. made of HD's cheapest plastic and stapled the long blades to the rafters and let them hang down. Walked around the square and had clothespins to keep the door closed - worked great for keeping my garage clean and keeping painted parts from splashing water. I had a pancake outside of the tent in a corner where I could take the plastic apart to adjust the pressure etc but didn't let the machine air ruin my finish. I just had a hose running under a plastic tent. I used a small ladder to which I attached a hook to hang my animal and set up lights to illuminate my character. I also had a portable flashlight to help me see while spraying. Otherwise white on white is really hard to see. Car! I love my.
