Great for older Beagles; Bought another one!

This is the second time I have bought one of these and the first is still in use. Last February my family welcomed Beagle Bailey from Beagle Rescue to Seattle. Bailey was almost 13 years old at the time. His owner died and he was sad and, I have to say, a little grumpy towards Bull, a large beagle puppy who wanted to play too roughly with him. Actually I was just looking for something cheaper because I thought we were just a way station on the way to the Fourever house. So I ordered this because it would fit in a drawer (he had some medical stuff to do) and as soon as we got home I was able to pull him out of the drawer and give him a soft spot to lie on on the floor next to me. Chair. Well, of course Bailey grew up with us — especially after his incontinence and mood issues were properly addressed — and he's staying. There are three dog beds in the house, but guess what? He loves these the most. And recently I realized why that is. An older beagle—and pretty much any older dog with arthritis—doesn't want a super soft bed because his instincts tell him he'll want to roll over on it a few times. A very soft dog bed will make it difficult for an older dog to stay upright, but a relatively flat bed like this is a stable walking surface. It's soft enough to soften his old bones, but not soft enough for his legs to buckle under him. It doesn't hurt that it can easily be washed in the washing machine. (I don't know if it can be tumble dried because I haven't tried it. It air dries in about half a day or overnight so I had no reason to risk it.) As for reversible. , there is an attractive side and a plain white side. let's think about it Even if we dry them off with a towel when they come indoors during the rainy months, who in their right mind would give their dog a white bed? No, the white side stays down and the blue side stays up. And that's okay. Our last baby left the nest last month and I decided to celebrate by putting all my holiday packing supplies in her old room. Moved a folding table to turn around, added a comfy chair and table for me to sit down. but we needed two dog beds. Saw this one at the same bargain price as last time and thought it was an obvious buy. (I bought a softer bed for Bull but I think he might prefer this one as well.) Unless this bed is discontinued or the price goes up drastically, I will be buying this as a dog bed and/or cage liner. Weekday.
