This is the best toaster I have ever owned. Period. And for 30 years I've owned pretty much every imaginable toaster and combination toaster (mostly with a convection function). As I got older I really gravitated towards expensive ones that aren't "just" a toaster. The last one I bought was the highly acclaimed Cusinart stainless steel convector which cost over $300. I then gave it away a year later, although it was hardly used. It was too big, too complicated to even toast, took up too much space on my counter - and while it did many things well, the toast could have been better. That's when I realized I was too in love to find a toaster that did MORE than just toast. However, those that did MORE tended to be very large, bulky and complex, and simple toasting was a problem. Then I read about it from Panisonic while reading many online lists "Top 10 Toasters for 2016-2017β. Panasonic's description stood out because it's a really simple oven, with simple, intuitive buttons, yet capable of toasting six slices of bread at once with ease and precision. That ended up attracting more than anything else. Simplicity, utility, large enough to toast 6 slices at a time but doesn't take up too much counter space. So I've had it for about 5 months and it's the second most used appliance in our house after our microwave (kids' favorite). I'm excited. One more thing? It has a slightly different shape than a traditional toaster - square rather than long and square. For some reason the shape seems more logical, fits our counter much better and the toast is easier to reach.
