The lights themselves are 5 stars! Very bright, very long strand, capable of many color modes. I've never had "tangle free" flashlights and they aren't completely tangle free, but they are definitely 90% less tangle free than regular flashlights. They seem very sturdy and I've had a streak that survived a rainy Pacific Northwest winter with no problems. Putting the strands together is easy and some of them are equipped with a locking mechanism. So why 4 stars? I'd argue that the remote, which does everything it advertises, isn't exactly intuitive, has very little range/power, and definitely needs 'line of sight' to work. I don't really care as I just clipped the remote next to the receiver in a zippered pocket on the outside to keep it where I need it. Would buy and buy again.
