Very slow on new routers

Context: Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on my Surface Pro 3 suddenly stopped working one day. Tried all possibilities, nothing helps. Contacted Microsoft and they said they could give me an exchange for $450. No way. I need a USB device that offers WiFi and Bluetooth and is relatively small. Then I find it. It's about the size of a wireless mouse dongle and offers Wi-Fi and Bluetooth without a bulky antenna. This is the smallest 2-in-1 wireless bluetooth adapter I've found. Connecting to my Surface Pro 3 has minimal impact on portability. (Although it occupies the only USB port that the Surface Pro 3 has, Microsoft is responsible for it.) It's not just plug-and-play in Windows 10 (Anniversary), and it doesn't work right after installing the driver (requires a workaround.) Path as described[.] but it saved my Surface Pro 3 from a useless brick built-in Wi-Fi. In some places where I used to have a slightly slow but usable connection before the onboard Wi-Fi died, I now have a very slow connection which can now sometimes be used, so it's unreasonable to expect it to work that well like built-in WiFi.Update: It worked fine with my old Comcast router. I later upgraded to a TP-Link Archer C7 router which supports dual band and 1000Mbps. However, that is extremely slow WiFi when using Edimax with my surface. I'm only getting about 1 Mbps or less and the connection is unstable. It's useless. All of my other devices are working fine, so it's unlikely the router is to blame. It's possible that the new dual-band WiFi is somehow interfering with Edimax and causing this problem. I've tried contacting Edimax support and tried the settings they provided but no blocking. I really want this device to work, but it doesn't.
