If you need to leave the trail to find water, use the toilet etc, it's great to have this to mark your way back to the trail . Can be detached and reused. It may seem frivolous, but once you get lost in the woods, you'll regret not having it. The general advice on what to do if you're lost is to stay where you are in the hope that if you go missing the authorities can find you (if you move they won't be able to find you) . In some cases, you have no choice but to keep moving. Lots of people trying to get out of the woods end up running in circles - this tape helps here.
